Too late...I made the executive decision to dig up the irises and  added purple violets to the pot. Nothing is blooming, but the violets  will bloom each year around the time we attended WB weekend #1; the  irises will bloom a few weeks after we finish weekend #2 and as we  begin our WB tickets.    Jeff, would you be willing to donate the extra patch and we can hot  glue it to a craft stick I put in the pot?
