Re: Newspaper

Hi Jim,
I packed newspaper. If we plan to have a campfire, we were told to
bring wood from Yates County, where Camp B-H is located. Can someone
take care of this?

Hi Antelopes,

We should have a token of appreciation for Dora? If you would like, I can dig up six purple/blue Siberian irises and write a dedication to her. We can present these to her after lunch on Day 6, when we will have a few minutes to stand up and say our thank yous in front of the other patrols and staff.

Please advise.

Too late...I made the executive decision to dig up the irises and added purple violets to the pot. Nothing is blooming, but the violets will bloom each year around the time we attended WB weekend #1; the irises will bloom a few weeks after we finish weekend #2 and as we begin our WB tickets. Jeff, would you be willing to donate the extra patch and we can hot glue it to a craft stick I put in the pot? Hi Bill,

Nice work on the formatting. It looks really nice. I have a few suggestions for your consideration:
  • Page 2: either list all Scouting positions for the patrol or remove these
  • Page 7: blank page can either be removed or lines could be added for notetaking.
See you on Saturday!

The following is not verbatim, but the gist of the conversation is true:
Wife: How was your weekend?
Me: Great, I'm an Antelope (we do run run run , we do run run)
Wife: A what?
Me: An Antelope, it's my patrol critter
Wife: Did you join some kind of fraternity?
Me: No, but I did learn a lot of good stuff and I've got lots of ideas on how to make the troop better.
Wife: That's nice dear.
A little while later…
Wife: What's that song your singing?
Me: Huh?  Oh, that's the Gilwell song. I used to be an Antelope….
Wife: Are you sure you didn't join a fraternity?
Me: Yea, why?
A little while later…
Wife: What are you doing now?
Me: I'm working on my woggle.
Wife: YOUR WHAT?
Me: My woggle
Wife: What did they do to you, I need to call someone.

What they did to me was to get me excited about scouts again.  Not that I wasn't before but I came back from weekend 1 with ideas.  I was reminded why I got myself into this.  I now remember what scouting is all about.  And most of all, I had fun.  I met new people, made new friends and had some awesome food (that was the most pleasant surprise of the weekend).  And to top it off, I'm an Antelope (we do run run run , we do run run).
As for the rest of the Antelopes (we do run run run , we do run run) it's been a busy couple of weeks.  Some of us have been traveling for work but we've managed to get together several times and sent lots of emails working on our patrol project.  We look forward to presenting our topic in a fun and interesting way.  We have also been working on a skit and song for the campfire and have planned our day 5 evening meal.
We have also created some awesome totem tags and reviewed several Antelope (we do run run run , we do run run) patches which we hope to have in time for the upcoming weekend.  The weather looks like it's going to be perfect for the festivities of weekend 2.  We look forward to it.

Notes

Here are the notes from the meeting on Monday.  They still need a little cleaning up but I thought it better to get them out like this than not get them out.  Sorry they took so long.  I've had an interview for Jamboree, a job interview, Scout meeting, day long conference, meeting with my son's principal about next year classes, racquetball league...  Ugh, it never stops.

See you on Friday at 6:30pm at Tinker.

I think it's great.  I'll incorporate it into the overall notes that I'm putting together.

Patrol patch

I don't know where we ended up with the patrol patch. I looked again at the patch I bought at the scout shop and I am sad to say it is quite ugly.

However, on a good note, I found this one at the woodbadve store. It seems quite nice.
