Hello all,
Each year Troop 325 has a pumpkin chunkin event. We use this event to teach the boys a little about engineering (designing a launcher), knots & lashings (to put the thing together), safety (so that it doesn't fall down on us), as well as a reason to go camping, be outdoors etc. We just had our APC and the boys would like to invite other troops to participate. If there is interest, I will provide some guidelines on what type of launcher you can build, the materials etc. This years event will be held on the weekend of November 9 - 11. We are currently working on a location (either Cutler or Babcock-Hovey) and I can let you know when we have one. We would prefer Cutler at this point but in the past they have been closed around that time for hunting season.
Hopefully your calendar will allow you to join us for the weekend. I think this would be a good opportunity for the boys. Feel free to pass this along to other troops (I think this may be a little too aggressive for Cub Scouts).
Thanks
Jim Papin
Troop 325 Scoutmaster
